Faculty and students from the Institute for the Humanities, SibFU, completed the project 'Digital collections of the Museum of Geology, Central Siberia'. It was a joint project between the university and the Museum of Geology, Central Siberia. It was supported by the Regional Reserach Foundation.

Project leaders are Maxim Roumyantsev, Director of the Institute for the Humanities, SibFU, and Marina Lapteva, Associate Professor from the Department of IT in Creative and Cultural Industries.

The online resourse displays museum collections on the geology of Russia and Krasnoyarsk Krai. The web site opens the exhibits for studying and communicating about digital heritage. It shows 500 exhibits from the museum collection for research, education and long life learning.

«We spent the six months of the project on making high resolution images, the online resource allows visitors to zoom in every object, — Marina Lapteva said. — Hopefully, good navigation, simple design and unique objects will be asthetically pleasant for the web site visitors. Its English version might attract more visitors in the future.».

Faculty and students from the Institute for the Humanities have a rich experience of joint projects with the museums of Krasnoyarsk and Saint Petersburg which resulted in building digital collections and collection management systems, creating panoramic photography. Faculty and students are open to collaboration and joint work.
