Rossotrudnichestvo to help SibFU expand its influence on the international market of education

Siberian Federal University and Rossotrudnichestvo will pool efforts in international cooperation in the field of science and education. The corresponding agreement with the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and on International Humanitarian Cooperation was signed on 24 August 2021.

The purpose of this cooperation is to develop, promote and support Russian education abroad. This document was signed by rector of Siberian Federal University Maksim Rumiantsev and head of the Agency Yevgeny Primakov.

Rossotrudnichestvo plans to help in promoting educational programs of SibFU abroad and building partnerships with leading educational institutions of foreign countries. In addition, the parties plan to organize joint events aimed at promoting the Russian language, Russian culture, science and education (for example, open lessons of the Russian language, creative contests, the Belchonok Olympiad).

The head of Rossotrudnichestvo stressed the importance of developing international relations in the field of education and attracting international students to study in Russia.

“For Rossotrudnichestvo, this is not the first agreement with universities, and this work makes practical sense. We have offices in 80 countries of the world, and it is important for us to provide a platform in those states that are of interest to universities. Forms of cooperation can be different: preparatory courses, selection of students, joint scientific activities. We are interested in promotion of Russian education abroad, here there is a good balance of the price and quality of education,” said Mr Primakov.

“At least 10 % of the total number of students in the university must be from abroad, only then the university becomes noticeable on the world map of educational infrastructure. In this regard, cooperation with Rossotrudnichestvo seems obvious. This is the key executive agency responsible for positioning Russia abroad. For us, as a university that claims to improve the quality of science and education, the issue of attracting applicants from abroad and their training remains highly relevant. In addition, we are becoming responsible for two Slavic universities — Kyrgyz and Tajik, and it is important for us not only to establish cooperation but also to make sure that this is built into the general policies,” concluded Maksim Rumiantsev.
