Fifteen first-Year Students from Tajikistan Arrive at Siberian Federal University

They studied remotely all year, but the improvement of the pandemic situation in our countries allowed them to start their studies full-time.

One hundred and forty one foreign students have returned to the university, but 260 continue studying online.

«Senior students volunteered to go to the airport, meet the freshmen, introduce the university to them, help with adaptation,” — said Anna Mezit, head of the SibFU's Department for International Cooperation.»

For many of them, this is their first trip abroad.

«I’ll tell you it has been as if I had a birthday, — shared first–year student of SibFU Timur Burkhunov. — «It was difficult to study remotely because we could not see fellow students, lecturers, and had to understand everything by ourselves. It was really difficult. Thank God everyone went through it».

«The university compensates the student for half of the cost. For example, if a student has bought a ticket for six thousand somoni, we will refund 20 thousand roubles. It is converted into the national currency of 3000 somoni,» — said Akmal Jumaev, head of the SibFU's Career Guidance Centre in Tajikistan.

Before sitting down at their desk, students will have to endure a three-day quarantine and do a second test for coronavirus.
