As the research supervisor Georgy Shaidurov, Professor of SibFU, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, says, the main problem with the search of hydrocarbons in the complex geological and geophysical conditions of the Eastern Siberia today is the low efficiency of the deep drilling according to the seismic tomography. For example, only three out of ten wells drilled (worth up to  1 billion rubles each) ) provide a useful product. The technology proposed by the Siberian scientists allows recognizing abnormalities with considerable accuracy that reduces the risk of drilling non-productive wells. Furthermore, all necessary calculations can be done directly on site.

«There are no Russian or foreign analogues of this technology. It conducts the search for polymetals and hydrocarbons without explosions or laying three-kilometer long power line. Lightweight, portable device analyzes the natural electromagnetic and seismic noise of the Earth. Application of this technology can reduce the time and cost of the search operations by two or three times, and it also makes geophysical exploration possible in a remote mountain-taiga areas», — said Georgy Shaidurov.

This unique search method is supported by the RFBR and the Krasnoyarsk Regional Science Fund. This development by Krasnoyarsk scientists has already received a patent and has successfully passed the approbation at one of the gas-condensate fields of the Republic of Khakassia. Within two years, the authors of the project expect to start a small-scale production based on the parent company for the exploration of oil and natural gas in Eastern Siberia. According to preliminary estimates, the project is due to pay off in two and a half years.
